Listen, Create, and Transform
Life is hard, and sometimes we just need someone to bear witness to our struggles and help us heal so that our brokenness doesn't break someone else. There is often pressure to turn every negative into a positive, but we should be allowed to say, "I went through something really strange and awful, and it has altered me forever."
You don't have to struggle alone. Whether you prefer to come into the studio or connect with me online, I offer both creative arts and talk therapy, or a mix of both, to help you transform your life in the way that feels meaningful for you.
As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist with nearly 20 years of experience, I help individuals navigate grief and trauma through expressive arts and talk therapy. Whether in-person or online, I provide a safe space for clients to heal and create a balanced, fulfilling life. - Bekah Near

My Approach
Transforming Lives Through the Arts
The power of art in times of loss and uncertainty is nothing new. Throughout history, people have used creative expression—whether through art, song, or movement—to navigate joy and struggle. Expressive Arts Therapy is rooted in the belief that creative expression transforms suffering into wisdom. It integrates visual arts, movement, music, writing, and play to foster personal transformation. Art-making offers a bridge between emotions and intellect, helping individuals see their stories in new, healing ways.
In addition to using the arts, ekah also incorporates therapy dogs, Coolidge and Reagan, into her practice. Pet therapy is a powerful tool for addressing emotional and physical issues.
The Creative Approach
Expressive arts therapy isn’t about creating perfect art. It’s about engaging with your emotions and experience in a therapeutic way. It invites you to explore different media—art, music, writing, and more—in a safe, judgment-free space. Whether you have artistic skill or not, the process of creating art during difficult times offers an opportunity for personal transformation and new insights.
This hands-on, experiential process can help shift your perspective and foster healing by engaging the mind and body in the present moment. Through creative work, you can gain clarity, reduce stress, and reconnect with your inner self.
